Candle ideas - Destination Relaxation: the bath
By. Phyllis Schwartz

Have you ever had a day that started out all wrong … and no matter what you did to try and improve things, nothing helped?
It was one of those days that started off just that way. First, the alarm clock failed to go off. I got everyone up and out as fast as I could, and then couldn’t find my car keys. Finally, I’m in the car and about to breathe a sigh of relief when I realize the gas gauge is empty. I wanted to cry, but just didn't have time.
Well, I got the gas, drove to work and the day went on just like it started. Take my word for it, you don’t want to hear the details. It was a terrible, horrible, miserable everything-go-wrong kind of a day!
By the time I was heading for home, all I wanted to do was flop down in a chair with a nice, full glass of wine for company. This time, the gas gauge read “full” and I quickly maneuvered my car out of the office parking lot.
Though I could barely remember getting from point A to point B, I managed to arrive back home in one piece – and home never looked so good. Approaching the door, I saw that it was slightly ajar. My heart skipped a beat and then I noticed my son's bike in the driveway – so much for last night's lecture about closing doors.
I took one step inside, stopped dead in my tracks and did a double take ...
I will never forget how magnificent the sight was – so many beautiful candles glowing. And, oh, the scent ... pure vanilla, which for me is akin to heaven. I realized that the candles actually formed a path leading straight back to my bedroom. There on the bed was my cozy terrycloth robe and a note.
The note said ...
"Honey, there's a nice, warm bath waiting for you. Why don't you relax for a bit
while Matt and I make dinner. We'll let you know when it's ready.
Love, Andy and Matt."
The tears welled up in my eyes. I walked over to the bathroom and, once again, stopped in my tracks. There were candles
everywhere – my favorite SoyLuscious ® candles. And a tub full of bubbles. The reflection glowing in the bathroom mirrors added something indescribable to the effect – it was like being enveloped in a sea of candlelight.
The effect was all so incredibly soothing. I literally felt the stress exiting my body. The bath water was warm and I was
pretty sure I detected a bit of lavender mixing in with the vanilla. I realized that there was piano music gently playing in the background (Andy had been listening after all when I had gone on and on about how scents and sounds can be relaxing!) In the next half hour, I went from drained to feeling reborn. And the rest of the evening was just as lovely.
By the time bedtime rolled around, I was reluctant to close my eyes. I wanted to hold on to that day forever – the day that started off all wrong and ended so incredibly right.
Of course I had to restock my entire supply ofSoyLuscious ® candles. And I didn't mind one bit! I've been wanting to try some new scents for a while. I'll let you know what I think! Maybe next time your life starts spinning out of control, you'll remember to try a nice, warm, relaxing
bath. Just don't forget the candles! :-)
